Bob Is Out Today
Tekken 8 patch 3.02.01 is now live, and it ships the biggest system change the game has seen since launch: a universal HP reduction from 200 to 190 across the entire roster. Alongside that meta shift, Bob—the "Onigiri Savior"—joins as Season 3's second DLC character. He's been in early access for Season Pass 3 holders since August 19, and as of today, August 24, he's available for standalone purchase.
The HP Nerf: What It Actually Means
A 5% health reduction sounds minor, but in a fighting game where matches are decided by single-digit HP margins, the ripple effects are real.
Bandai Namco's stated goal is to "expand the range of options in the mind game for both offense and defense." The current Tekken 8 meta has leaned heavily into aggressive pressure and heat system offense since launch. Reducing total health means:

Whether this opens up the mindgame or simply rewards existing pressure-heavy playstyles more is an open question the community will answer over the coming weeks. Along with the HP change, Bandai Namco also adjusted Quick Recovery behavior without detailing the exact frame changes.
Characters with Balance Changes
Forty-one characters received move behavior fixes and performance adjustments in this patch. Bandai Namco noted the adjustments targeted "moves that have a high impact on the competitive environment where challenges were observed in their risk-reward balance."

Notable callout: Kunimitsu had a Tekken Ball-specific bug fixed. Several of her moves were allowing thrown kunai to excessively restrict opponents on contact; the fix now limits kunai to only hitting the ball in that mode.
Who Is Bob?
Bob first appeared in Tekken 6, where Bandai Namco introduced a uniquely paradoxical character: a practitioner of Freestyle Karate who combined unusual speed with heavyweight bulk. The character became a fan favorite for the same reason — the physics-defying contradiction of a big man moving faster than he should.
In Tekken 8's story, Bob arrives in a different chapter of his life. After being beaten by Bryan on the way to the King of Iron Fist Tournament 7 and waking up in a hospital bed with nothing but bland food for company, Bob channeled his frustration into cooking — eventually building a successful burger chain and launching the "Bob's Onigiri" brand. His motivation for re-entering the tournament: bringing justice down on Kazuya Mishima.
Bob was revealed live at EVO 2026 in Las Vegas in late June, where the crowd also witnessed Arslan Ash claim the championship title. He will be followed in Season 3 by Roger Jr. (full trailer expected at Evo France 2026 on October 11) and Yujiro Hanma.

The Season 3 Pass includes all four fighters plus early access perks (five-day head start per character) and season-exclusive costume content. At current pricing, it's the most cost-effective way to get Bob if you plan to pick up Roger Jr. and Yujiro Hanma down the line.

Beyond the balance changes and new fighter, patch 3.02.01 ships a notable batch of cosmetic and shop content:
Aurora Outfit Pack — Included automatically for Season 3 Pass holders once Bob is unlocked. Features Bob's themed outfit.
Fun in the Sun Pack — A standalone costume pack containing: Fun in the Sun Sunglasses, Bikini (Upper Body), Bikini with Jacket, Micro Shorts, Sandals, and Visor. Available separately in the Tekken Shop.
Tekken Fight Pass Round 11 — New battle pass cycle. Completing missions earns levels and cosmetic rewards. Free tier earns up to 100 Tekken Coins; Premium tier earns up to 700 total.
Round 1 Gold and Silver Packs — Limited-time bundles for players who missed Fight Pass Round 1. Discount scales with how many Round 1 items you already own — up to 91% off for players with significant prior Round 1 progress.
Online and UX Changes
The matchmaking confirmation dialog now pauses matchmaking if the player doesn't respond, rather than auto-continuing. Previously, a dialog that closed without input would silently keep the queue running. This change came directly from player feedback submitted through Bandai Namco's Developer Feedback Portal (DFP).

Where to Get Bob and What It Costs
Bob is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam as a standalone DLC purchase or as part of the Season 3 Pass. Season Pass 3 owners received him automatically with the early access window five days ago.
If you're on the fence, the next Season 3 character, Roger Jr., is still unannounced for pricing. If the Season 2 pattern holds, the full Season 3 Pass will remain cheaper than buying all four fighters individually — but that's not confirmed for this season.
