Opening-day results

Several groups produced decisive results on August 20. Saudi Arabia rolled over Australia 3-0, Canada edged Germany 3-2 in a thriller, Spain swept Thailand 3-0, and Sweden shut out Japan 3-0. Group D — Korea's group — was drawn with France vs. South Korea and Denmark vs. Colombia, scheduled later in the opening day.

Broadcast and viewer rewards

Every match streams live on Korea's SOOP and CHZZK platforms. Twitch Drops run for the global audience: link an Overwatch account to Twitch and watch time unlocks icons, sprays, a Battle Pass tier skip, and Esports Loot Boxes. Given the nation-versus-nation format, viewership tends to surge around each country's matches.

Road to the finals

Teams that survive the Busan group stage advance to the finals on September 12–13 (PST), where the champion is decided. With the group stage played in host city Busan, whether the Korean side can punch its finals ticket in front of a home crowd is the top talking point among local fans.
