Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition Announced — Echoes of Sekigahara Story DLC, Most Wanted Roguelite, October 1

Ghost of Yōtei is getting a surprise expansion package. Sucker Punch Productions announced Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition on August 12 via PlayStation Blog, landing just ahead of the game's first anniversary. The bundle wraps a new narrative DLC — Echoes of Sekigahara — and a brand-new roguelite survival mode called Most Wanted into a single upgrade. Both pieces of content drop on October 1, 2026 (October 2 in Asia, Australia, and New Zealand) via patch v.2.0.

The Expansion: Echoes of Sekigahara

Ghost of Tsushima's Iki Island expansion gave players a tightly focused side story that deepened Jin's backstory through trauma and moral weight. Sucker Punch is attempting something structurally similar but more ambitious with Echoes of Sekigahara: a dual-timeline narrative that cuts between Atsu's present in Ezo and her past on the Japanese mainland during one of history's most consequential battles.

In the present-day thread, Nagato — a figure from Atsu's past who appeared briefly in the main game — arrives in Ezo. Players explore a previously inaccessible valley once controlled by The Snake and his surviving loyalists, the Vipers. In the flashback thread, Atsu stands at the Battle of Sekigahara (1600), the pivotal confrontation that delivered Japan to Tokugawa rule. The DLC will reveal what happened there that set Atsu on the path home to Ezo sixteen years later.

Sucker Punch has not announced runtime length or chapter count. For reference, Iki Island ran 10–15 hours on a standard playthrough. The studio says more details on Echoes of Sekigahara are coming in the weeks ahead.

The New Mode: Most Wanted

Most Wanted is Ghost of Yōtei's first roguelite — a single-player combat survival mode that asks players to accept bounty contracts, fight through increasingly dangerous enemy encounters, accumulate perks, and survive as long as possible. Unlike the main game's open-world pacing, Most Wanted structures play into focused, replayable runs.

The mode's headline feature is three playable characters, each built around a different weapon archetype:

Most Wanted does not appear to include a leaderboard system based on the current announcement, though Sucker Punch promises more details soon. Additional characters can be unlocked through play.

Pricing and Edition Breakdown

The Complete Edition is available to purchase now, though Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted won't be playable until the October patch arrives.

The Sakai Clan Armor is described as "a throwback to Jin's family armor from Ghost of Tsushima," creating a deliberate visual callback across Sucker Punch's two Ghost games set three centuries apart.

Anyone who owns Ghost of Yōtei — regardless of whether they purchase the upgrade — will receive the following free content in the October patch:

The transmog system is particularly notable: players who spent hours farming a specific visual look in the base game can now combine it with stronger late-game stats without compromise.

Context: Ghost of Yōtei's Year

Ghost of Yōtei launched October 2, 2025, a direct sequel-by-spirit to Ghost of Tsushima. Set 300 years after Jin's story, it follows Atsu, a ronin hunting six outlaws who slaughtered her family in Ezo (present-day Hokkaido). The game arrived to strong critical reception and became one of PlayStation's marquee exclusive releases of 2025.

Sucker Punch expanded the game earlier this year with Ghost of Yōtei Legends (February 2026), a free online co-op mode supporting up to four players with multiple modes and a culminating Raid. Legends is included in the Complete Edition.

The Echoes of Sekigahara expansion follows a well-established Sony first-party pattern: release a flagship exclusive, then support it with a substantial story DLC around the one-year mark. Ghost of Tsushima's Iki Island (2021) set a high bar for that model — the question now is whether Echoes of Sekigahara matches its depth.

Should You Buy?

If you haven't played Ghost of Yōtei: The Complete Edition at $69.99 matches the base game's original launch price. You start playing immediately; Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted unlock via patch in October. For newcomers to the Ghost franchise, this is the most complete way in.

If you already own the base game: The $14.99 upgrade is the value proposition here. Both pieces of new content plus any unowned Digital Deluxe bonuses for less than a typical fast-food meal. Pre-order by September 30 to add the Sakai Clan Armor.

If you're on the fence about the original: Ghost of Yōtei is a PS5 exclusive with no PC version announced. If you don't have a PS5, the Complete Edition changes nothing about that calculus.
