2XKO Patch 1.2.5 Goes Live July 23 — Juggernaut Rework, Freestyle Nerfs, and Ahri Hitbox Changes

Riot Games' tag-based fighter 2XKO ships Patch 1.2.5 on July 23. The update was pushed back slightly for additional console work, but it lands with sweeping changes to both characters and systems designed to shake up the meta. Servers go down for maintenance starting at 9 a.m. PT, and only Offline mode is available during the downtime.

Patch at a Glance

2XKO pairs two champions per team, and its "Fuse" playstyle system sits at the heart of every match. The weight of this patch is less about individual champions and more about redesigning that Fuse system.

System Changes — Reworking Three Fuses

Riot reworked all three Fuses at once. Juggernaut — strong at beginner and intermediate levels but weak at the top — gains an advanced tool while losing early-game power, and Freestyle, which has dominated expert play, keeps its flexibility but now carries real trade-offs.

Juggernaut can now solo dash-cancel any attack by spending 30% Break meter — the same mechanic as Fury dash canceling, but now available to Juggernaut users outside of Fury. To balance that, pushblock no longer costs Break meter but gets a 4-second cooldown, and Break gain on hit is cut by 50%.

Freestyle has long been defined by the power of two Handshake Tags, so Riot shortened the Freestyle Tag window from 80 frames to 60 (a 20-frame cut) and stacked on new Break- and tag-related restrictions.

Champion Balance — Nerfs and Adjustments

To reshape the meta, Riot is trimming Ahri, Thresh, and Illaoi in particular. Many of Ahri's changes are hitbox-related, which stands to affect established combo routes.

With a dozen champions on the adjustment list, this reads less like a targeted nerf pass and more like a roster-wide rebalancing. Riot says it worked to ensure Ahri can still perform all of her bread-and-butter combos.

Console Crashes — No Official Fix Yet

2XKO has been dogged by console crashes for a while. Riot still doesn't have an official fix in this patch, but it did share the cause and a temporary workaround. The crashes appear to stem from lobbies trying to load too many spectator matches at once.

Turning on "Teleport to Cabinet" sidesteps the crashes for now. Since it's a mitigation rather than a real fix, console players will be watching the next patch's performance work closely.

New Skins — Culinary Masters & Coven

Two megabundles arrive alongside the patch. Both are limited-time purchases and may return through other means later.

As a free-to-play fighter, cosmetic sales like these are central to 2XKO's monetization. Riot is also running the second part of a Chipotle collaboration event, live from July 21 through August 6.
