Blizzard shipped Diablo IV Patch 3.1.1 (Build #72805) across all platforms on July 14. The hotfix repairs a bug that fully blocked Mythic drops from Lair Bosses and other sources during Season 14: Death Awakening, raises the odds that naturally dropped Mythics roll as Iconic Mythics, and trims the Horadric Cube recipe cost from five Pandemonium Fragments to four.

Diablo IV Patch 3.1.1 Goes Live — Blocked Mythic Drops Restored, Iconic Mythic Odds Raised

Blizzard rolled out Diablo IV Patch 3.1.1 (Build #72805) to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox on July 14. It is a hotfix-style update targeting complaints that have followed Season 14: Season of Death Awakening since it launched on June 30. The headline items are a fix for a bug that completely blocked Mythic item drops from certain sources, plus tuning to how the game's rarest gear feels to chase.

The Blocked Mythics Were a Bug, Not Bad Luck

The weightiest change is the fix to a Mythic Unique drop bug. A number of Mythic Unique sources — Lair Bosses among them — were failing to drop those items at all. Players farming those specific routes weren't fighting a low drop rate; the drop chance was effectively zero. Patch 3.1.1 restores normal odds on the affected sources.

Iconic Mythic Odds Go Up

Blizzard also increased the chance that a naturally dropped Mythic rolls as the higher-tier Iconic Mythic. Players had flagged Iconic Mythics as feeling far too rare since the season began, and the adjustment should improve how rewarding a farm session feels. The bump applies to natural drops and works independently of crafting paths.

Cheaper Crafting and a New Cache Entry

ChangeBeforeAfter
Horadric Cube Mythic recipe5 Pandemonium Fragments4 Pandemonium Fragments
Blacksmith Mythic CacheEl'druin absentEl'druin, Sword of Justice added
Deathtoll Chambers (high Torment)No guaranteed keyAt least one Superior Lair Key

The Horadric Cube's Mythic recipe now costs four Pandemonium Fragments instead of five, a meaningful reduction for players grinding toward top-tier gear. El'druin, Sword of Justice — previously missing from the Blacksmith's Mythic Cache — has been added, giving players a way to target it directly.

Seasonal Quality-of-Life Fixes

The patch also touches season convenience. The Seasonal Reputation Board has been added to Temis, improving access to reputation tracking, and Deathtoll Chambers now always reward at least one Superior Lair Key at high Torment levels. Both changes firm up the reward loop at the center of Season 14's Pandemonium Rupture-to-Deathtoll cycle.

Community Reaction and What It Means

The hotfix is closer to a repair than a content drop, but reaction has been broadly positive — the drop-blocking bug had rendered certain builds and farming routes essentially pointless, and fixing it makes those paths viable again. Some players noted there is no compensation for grind time lost to the early-season bug. Whether the odds and cost tweaks translate into a felt difference will show up in the coming days' drop data.

Patch 3.1.1 is less a season-shaking update than the maintenance that makes Death Awakening run as intended. With the blocked Mythic routes reopened, mid-season farming is worth re-planning.
