At the TennoLive stage of its annual fan celebration TennoCon 2026, Warframe studio Digital Extremes dropped a major update for its fantasy action RPG Soulframe. The centerpiece is a new Fable (story quest) called "Warsongs," but the reveal went far wider — wolf mounts, fishing, and a dark progression path are all coming to the pre-alpha "Preludes" build.

The 'Warsongs' Fable — The Darkest Soulframe Yet
Digital Extremes described Warsongs as "the darkest Soulframe has ever been." A rare red-armed Envoy named Tempest Bayor, aligned with the invading Ode forces, arrives as the new antagonist. The narrative and its mission are set to roll into Preludes this fall.
Ben Starr and Jennifer English — The Expedition 33 Duo Joins
The voice lineup is a talking point of its own. Tempest Bayor is performed by Ben Starr, and his Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 castmate Jennifer English makes her first in-game appearance as the Empress of Eldveil. Reuniting two leads from one of the year's standout RPGs adds real narrative weight to the reveal.
Wolf Mounts — The Long-Awaited Ride
The news longtime Preludes players welcomed most is the arrival of mounts. Landing in Preludes this fall, they were shown in a live demo with a full four-player squad riding large wolves across the Alca. Notably, players who finished the Orangol quest already have a puppy — one that future bonding mechanics, including petting and fetch, will grow into a rideable companion.
The Vadagar Pact and Fishing — Broadening the Loop
On the combat side, a new progression path called the Vadagar Pact arrives. It channels the corrupting power of Ichor down a dark route, offering an aggressive kit — hurling exploding boomerangs, summoning ensnaring tendrils, or calling forth a stampede of corrosive steeds. For downtime, there's a gentler counterpart: so-called "Vegan Fishing," a relaxing mini-game where players capture fish without harming them to gain intel on the wildlife across the Alca. A new boss fight, the Mendicant Reinbreaker, was also teased.
Permanent Preludes Access — Deadline Is Today
To celebrate TennoCon, Digital Extremes handed out permanent access to the pre-alpha Preludes build. Anyone who creates an account at soulframe.com by 11:59 PM ET on July 12 (12:59 PM KST on July 13) keeps unlimited access to the latest build until the game's wider public launch. Those who miss the window fall back to the existing weekly lottery for access.
