Guilty Gear -Strive- Ver.2.02 Launches Today — Robo-Ky Joins the Roster, Music Playlist Feature Added

Arc System Works has released Ver.2.02 for Guilty Gear -Strive- on July 2, 2026. The headline addition is Robo-Ky — Season Pass 5's second DLC character — alongside a fresh music playlist feature, balance adjustments across the roster, and the opening of Blazing Pass Duel 2. Robo-Ky was revealed live at EVO 2026 in Las Vegas last week, drawing loud reactions from the crowd.

Who Is Robo-Ky?

Robo-Ky is a mechanical puppet weapon developed by the Post-War Administration Bureau, built using Ky Kiske as a template. Despite the resemblance, the two characters share almost nothing in playstyle. Robo-Ky revolves around a dedicated special gauge that, when spent, supercharges his Overdrive attacks — rewarding players who manage resources carefully and mix up their pressure with tricky setplay.

Arc System Works describes him as a "character with many deceptive techniques," targeting players who enjoy layered mind-games and gauge management rather than straightforward rushdown.

Music Playlist — Finally, Your Own BGM

The new music playlist feature lets players queue up any tracks from Strive's extensive in-game soundtrack and cycle through them during matches. Robo-Ky's original theme, "Breath," was also added alongside him. Customizable BGM is uncommon in fighting games, and the community response has been positive — particularly among veterans who have played through multiple seasons.

EVO 2026 Reveal and Community Reaction

Robo-Ky was unveiled on June 28 at EVO 2026 in Las Vegas — one of the most high-profile stages in the fighting game calendar. A new Guilty Gear Strive champion was crowned at the event, and the character reveal immediately followed, amplifying the moment. The EVO reveal trailer racked up significant views within hours of going live.

Community hubs like Eventhubs and Reddit's r/Guiltygear have been active with frame-data breakdowns and early tier speculation since the gameplay trailer dropped. Early consensus points to Robo-Ky as a mid-range specialist with a high skill ceiling — likely to be picked up by experienced players before spreading to wider play.

How to Get Robo-Ky

Robo-Ky is accessible through two purchase paths:

  • Season Pass 5 — includes Robo-Ky and additional upcoming characters (existing Season Pass 5 holders unlock him automatically)
  • Individual DLC — standalone character purchase

Both options are available now on Steam, PlayStation Store, and Xbox Store.
