Respawn also removed the "Champion Squad" screen from the Ranked match-start flow, citing player frustration over misleading information about opposing teams before a match even begins.

Content Affected

  • Ranked: Ranked Ladder 7 begins July 2; removing the Champion Squad screen shortens the match-start flow.
  • Mixtape: New TDM, Control, and Gun Run map rotations run through August 4.
  • Anti-cheat: New detection for a reverse speed hack that let cheaters freeze mid-air.
  • Meta impact: Expect the Conduit/Mad Maggie hyper-aggressive push compositions to cool off, with previously underused picks like Ballistic and Pathfinder seeing more play.

Community Reaction

Following the preview hotfix to Conduit and Axle in late May, gaming outlet GameRiv reported that "community reaction has been mixed. Some players think Conduit needed to be toned down, while others feel Axle's most annoying tools were barely touched." With this full patch pushing Conduit's Tactical cooldown out to 30 seconds, Conduit mains are expected to voice further frustration. Esports.gg summarized the update as "Ballistic and Pathfinder buffs, Axle and Conduit nerfs," calling it a major turning point for the back half of Season 29's meta.

GamePeak Verdict

Overclocked Split 2 is squarely aimed at cooling down the Conduit-Axle hyper-mobility meta that defined the start of Season 29, while giving long-neglected picks like Ballistic and Pathfinder real reasons to see play again. With a new shotgun hop-up in Executioner and a buffed Nemesis via Turbocharger, weapon meta shifts are likely too — worth jumping in for a few matches right after the patch lands on June 23.
