Why the Steam Launch Matters
Since its July 2024 debut, Zenless Zone Zero had only been available through HoYoverse's own HoYoPlay launcher on PC, plus mobile and console. The Steam debut puts the game in front of Valve's massive PC storefront audience for the first time, bringing Steam library integration, achievements, and cloud save support. Existing players can link their HoYoverse account on Steam and continue right where they left off — no need to restart progress.

The Steam store page also lists support for ray tracing and NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation, giving players with capable hardware a visual upgrade over the previous HoYoPlay-only build. Multi Frame Generation support is planned for a future update.
What's New in Version 3.0, "A Sleepwalker's Confession"
The update opens the first chapter of Season 3, following the Proxy as they travel to the newly added region Roscaelifer to find a cure for a runaway surge of Ether energy.
Key additions
- ▶New region: Roscaelifer — a new explorable area set on a sky-bound island

What Is Zenless Zone Zero? A Beginner's Guide
Zenless Zone Zero is an urban fantasy action RPG from HoYoverse, originally released in July 2024. Set in New Eridu, a city ravaged by a disaster called the Hollow, players take on the role of a Proxy, leading Agents into Hollow incursions to investigate and combat the threats within.
Gameplay highlights
- ▶Fast-paced combat: a combo-driven action battle system built around dodge and counter timing
- ▶Agent collection: gather characters across different elements and roles to build a team
- ▶Semi-automated exploration: the TV Mode lets players move through dungeons quickly
- ▶Free-to-play: gacha-based monetization, with all core content playable for free

What This Means for Western Players
For Western PC players who had avoided installing yet another standalone launcher, the Steam launch removes that friction entirely — Zenless Zone Zero can now be downloaded, updated, and tracked through Steam like any other library title. The timing also matters: a brand-new Season 3 storyline begins right as the Steam version goes live, giving newcomers a clean entry point rather than requiring them to catch up on two years of prior story content.
Community reaction across Reddit and X has largely focused on the convenience of Steam achievements and overlay support, along with renewed interest from players who had drifted away from HoYoverse's standalone launcher ecosystem.
GamePeak Take
Zenless Zone Zero is HoYoverse's third major live-service title following the success of Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, and its Steam debut marks a real turning point for the game's reach. With Season 3 launching in the same update, this is arguably the best entry point yet for players who have been holding off. Since it's free-to-play, there's little reason not to give it a try.
