Fan Reaction (Korean Community)
Japanese tactics RPGs with no official Korean localization have historically driven some of the most dedicated fan translation efforts. FFT is no exception — fan patches for older versions of the game have existed for years. The official localization announcement drew an enthusiastic response:
""After years of playing through Japanese import versions, an official Korean release is finally happening." — Ruliweb user (translated)
""Bought the Japanese physical version and played through it — now I'll pick up the Korean edition too." — Ruliweb user (translated)
""The wait was worth it. Square Enix actually delivered." — Ruliweb user (translated)
Is This the Definitive Way to Play FFT?
For most players, yes. The Ivalice Chronicles remaster includes every quality-of-life improvement you'd want: full voice acting, improved visuals, optional battle speed, and now Korean text. If you've never played Final Fantasy Tactics, June 17 is a great time to start.
For veterans who played the original extensively, the remaster's balance changes are minor and don't fundamentally alter the experience you remember.
GamePeak Verdict
This is exactly the kind of official localization announcement that long-frustrated Korean-speaking fans deserve. FFT is a genuine all-time classic — widely considered alongside Tactics Ogre as the apex of tactical RPG design — and the Ivalice Chronicles remaster is the best way to experience it.
D-4 from today. If you've been waiting for a reason to pick this up, June 17 is that reason.
