Full Changelog
Streamlined Progression
A new optional assist system designed to help players "advance through the game smoothly, not only during your first playthrough but also when you replay it" — Square Enix's words. Each option can be toggled on or off independently at any time from the in-game Options menu.
| Option | Effect |
|---|---|
| Unlimited HP/MP | HP and MP remain at maximum at all times, including minigames |
| 9,999 Damage | All damage dealt to enemies and in minigames is fixed at 9,999 |
| Maximum Items | All items are held at maximum quantity (with select exceptions) |
This system addresses long-standing community feedback that FF7 Rebirth's combat and minigame difficulty spikes could be barriers to completing the story.
New Game – Head Start
A new save-game option that lets players begin a fresh playthrough with level 65 characters (character cap is level 70), equipped with several enhanced materia. Ideal for second playthroughs, trophy hunting, or players who want to jump directly into late-game side content.
PC: AMD FSR Upscaling
The PC version now supports AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) upscaling, providing "more stable and detailed image processing." This addition is especially meaningful for mid-range GPU owners who previously had fewer image-quality scaling options compared to PS5's PSSR.
Minor Bug Fixes
The patch also bundles a set of minor bug fixes. Specific details are available in the full Steam patch notes.

FF7 Part 3 Update
With the trilogy's second chapter now fully multi-platform, all eyes turn to Part 3. Director Naoki Hamaguchi offered a measured update in April 2026:
""development itself is proceeding on time and on schedule. We believe it'll become a title we can deliver with confidence... preparations toward the announcement are steadily underway. Please look forward to it just a little longer." — Naoki Hamaguchi, Director
Square Enix has not confirmed a release window for Part 3, but Hamaguchi's language suggests an announcement is closer than the studio's usual silence would imply.
