Community Context

The Korean gaming community has responded to this announcement with significant enthusiasm. Final Fantasy Tactics has maintained a devoted following in Korea since its original 1997 release, where fans played the game in Japanese or relied on unofficial fan translations for nearly three decades.

The official localization removes the barrier for a new generation of Korean players while giving veterans a polished, officially translated version of the game they know.

Square Enix's commitment to adding Korean support — even in a 2025 title updating into 2026 — reflects growing publisher awareness of East Asian markets beyond Japan.

Notable Context: Sales Milestone

The Ivalice Chronicles surpassed 1 million units shipped — a milestone Square Enix has confirmed, which likely contributed to the decision to fund additional localization work for Korean and Chinese territories.

GamePeak Verdict

For players who have been waiting to experience Final Fantasy Tactics in their native language, June 17 is the date to mark. The Enhanced Edition is already the highest-rated version of one of tactical RPG history's most influential games, and the Korean update makes it fully accessible without translation friction for the first time.

Already own the game on Steam? The update is free — no action needed beyond letting Steam patch.

New to FFT? June 17 is the ideal entry point — buy Enhanced Edition and play with Korean text from day one.
