Version 20260528 — Zero Downtime, Live Now
Marvel Rivals dropped its Season 8 second content update on May 28, 2026 at 09:00 UTC with no server downtime. Boot up, patch in the background, play immediately — NetEase has made no-maintenance patch delivery a consistent standard across Season 8.
The patch carries three headline features: the long-requested Anti-Cheat Rank Compensation System beginning its trial run, Daredevil's Shadowed Start costume receiving community-driven updates, and the Chrono-Rush seasonal event kicking off this weekend.

Anti-Cheat Rank Compensation System — Full Refund If You Get Cheated
The biggest addition in this patch is the Anti-Cheat Rank Compensation System, now entering a trial run. The premise is straightforward and addresses one of the most persistent frustrations in ranked play.
How It Works
- 1You encounter a cheater during a ranked match.
- 2You report the player through the in-game reporting system.
- 3If the system verifies the cheat, you are refunded 100% of the Ranked Points you lost in that match.
Exclusions: Placement Matches are excluded from this system because they do not award Ranked Points. The Anti-Cheat Rank Compensation System only applies to standard ranked matches. This is a trial run — terms and processing times may adjust based on results.
This follows a recent ban wave targeting cheaters in Marvel Rivals. The compensation system closes the loop: not only are the cheaters removed, but the players they victimized get their progression back. The community had been asking for exactly this kind of accountability for months.

Daredevil Shadowed Start — White Billy Club Is Now Default
The community has been vocal about Daredevil's Shadowed Start costume since it launched: players wanted the White Billy Club as the default weapon, not the black one. This patch delivers exactly that.
Changes to Shadowed Start
- ▶Default weapon changed from Black Billy Club to White Billy Club (Black Billy Club remains available as an option you can swap to at any time)
- ▶"Demon's Rage" flame VFX toggle added — you can now turn off the flame effect on your own screen. Note: other players will still see the flames; this is a local display option only.
Both customization options are automatically granted for free to all players who already own the Shadowed Start costume. No purchase required. Justice is served, as the patch notes put it.
The speed of this turnaround has been widely noted. The White Billy Club request was a consistent, specific ask from the community — and it made it into the patch within a reasonable window. That kind of responsiveness is not a given in live-service games.
Chrono-Rush Event — Unlimited Token Farming Across Four Weekends
The Chrono-Rush seasonal event begins May 29 and runs through June 22 across four separate activity windows:
| Round | Start (UTC) | End (UTC) |
|---|---|---|
| Round 1 | May 29, 12:00 | June 1, 12:00 |
| Round 2 | June 5, 12:00 | June 8, 12:00 |
| Round 3 | June 12, 12:00 | June 15, 12:00 |
| Round 4 | June 19, 12:00 | June 22, 12:00 |
During active windows, completing event missions earns Chrono Tokens with no upper cap. The more you play, the more you accumulate. Tokens can be exchanged for event-exclusive rewards. The Black Cat and Wolverine cosmetic bundles also go live in the store starting May 29.
Community Reaction

""The Anti-Cheat Rank Compensation System is the single best addition to Marvel Rivals since launch. Losing points to a cheater felt so unfair. This actually fixes the feeling."
— r/MarvelRivals
""NetEase just shipped the White Billy Club default that players asked for. This is how you run a live service game. Take notes, every other AAA studio."
— Steam Community Hub
""No downtime patch again. I've stopped expecting maintenance windows. This is just how it works in Marvel Rivals now."
— Reddit comment thread
The no-downtime delivery is worth calling out independently. In 2026, maintenance windows for live-service patches are still standard across most titles. NetEase has made zero-downtime patching its default expectation, and the community has noticed.
Bug Fixes and Balance Adjustments
Alongside the new systems and content, the patch includes several gameplay fixes:
- ▶Hero ability cooldown and damage adjustments based on post-Season 8 launch data
- ▶Blood Hunt event bug fixes
- ▶Map interaction errors corrected
- ▶Match stability improvements for high-player-count scenarios
Full numeric balance details are available in the official patch notes on the Marvel Rivals website.
