The Support Meta Is Getting Flipped — Patch 26.11 Is Live
League of Legends Patch 26.11 went live on May 28, 2026 and it's shaking up ranked play harder than any patch in recent memory. Riot's lead designer RiotPhroxzon described the goal plainly: improve diversity, especially around the melee vs. ranged support balance. After enchanters like Lulu, Soraka, Nami, and Karma dominated for most of 2026 — pumping out shields, heals, and mage damage with minimal counterplay — Riot is swinging the pendulum back toward engage and tank supports.
If you've been waiting to dust off your Nautilus or Leona, your time has come.
Patch 26.11 winners: Nautilus, Thresh, Leona, Alistar, Blitzcrank — anything that runs Aftershock, builds Locket into Knight's Vow, and wants to roam post-6. These champs benefit from every single change in this patch.
Patch at a Glance
| Category | Summary |
|---|---|
| Live Date | May 28, 2026 |
| Next Patch | June 10, 2026 |
| Primary Focus | Support ecosystem overhaul |
| Major Buffs | Tank/engage supports, Diana, Ekko, Kassadin |
| Major Nerfs | Enchanters (items + runes), Smolder, AP Xin Zhao |
| New Skins | 7 skins (Italian food theme + Eternal Aspects) |
| Client Change | "My Leagues" feature removed |
Why Now? The Problem With Enchanter Dominance
Season 2026's role quest system inadvertently made ranged supports too efficient. They could babysit strong ADC picks AND complete their quest objectives simultaneously — melee/engage supports couldn't compete. The result was a stale, predictable bot lane meta.
Riot's solution in Patch 26.11 is systemic: buff everything that helps melee supports survive and make aggressive plays, nerf what makes ranged supports passively dominant. The changes touch runes, items, and even jungle objective timings.
Rune Changes
| Rune | Direction | Key Change |
|---|---|---|
| Summon Aery | Nerf | Early shielding: 30 base → 20 base (levels 1–18 curve unchanged at cap) |
| Aftershock | Buff | Cooldown: 90–40s → 75–40s across levels |
| Guardian | Adjustment | Shield scaling reworked to favor tankier users in lane |
Item Changes
Enchanter Items — Nerfed
| Item | Change |
|---|---|
| Moonstone Renewer | Starlight's Grace passive no longer double-dips into Heal & Shield Power or Grievous Wounds calculations — major nerf for Lulu and Soraka stacking HS% |
| Echoes of Helia | Damage Stored: 35% → 30% |
| Dream Maker | Blue Bubble DR now applies to first damaging spell source (not just first tick); Purple Bubble gains AoE reduction for area abilities |
Tank Items — Buffed
| Item | Change |
|---|---|
| Locket of the Iron Solari | Armor and Magic Resist: 25 → 30 |
| Heartsteel | Damage to Permanent Health Conversion: 8% → 10% (reverting a year-old nerf) |
Moonstone double-dip removal is the single largest individual item change in this patch. If you're playing Lulu or Soraka with heavy Heal & Shield Power stacking, your secondary proc shield will be notably weaker. Rebuild your core item order before your next ranked game.

Community Reactions
""This is the patch that saves professional play from sleeping aids. Enchanter support has been dominant too long and watching Lulu babysit every game got old months ago." — Reddit r/leagueoflegends
""Heartsteel revert is HUGE for greedy top laners. DR Mundo and Cho'Gath builds feeling it." — Reddit r/leagueoflegends
""Bard is actually sneaky good this patch. He's ranged but doesn't use enchanter items, so he skips all the nerfs and gets the Grub roam buff." — Reddit r/summonerschool
Client Update — "My Leagues" Removed
Riot has quietly removed the My Leagues feature that showed where you rank relative to random players in your tier and division. Friends comparisons and the Master+ ladder remain intact. The change is part of a navigation simplification pass in the client's Ranked area.
Bottom Line
Patch 26.11 is the biggest shakeup to bot lane in Season 2026. If you've been stuck in an enchanter-dominated queue for months, relief is here. The Moonstone double-dip removal alone is enough to push Lulu and Soraka off the S-tier perch they've occupied all year. Climb now with Nautilus, Thresh, or Leona before the ladder adjusts.
