Ingrid debuted in the Street Fighter universe back in 2006's Street Fighter Alpha 3, portrayed as a mysterious, otherworldly entity who wields the power of the sun. Her return to the franchise marks the completion of Year 3 — and with all four Year 3 characters now live, every Outfit 3 unlocks simultaneously today.

Ingrid's Combat Style — Sun Power Breakdown

Ingrid's gameplan revolves around Sun Symbol management. Playing Ingrid means constantly building these stacks through normal gameplay, then spending them to supercharge her already-strong tools.

Core Mechanics

MechanicDescription
Sun Symbol StacksAccumulate via moves, spend to empower enhanced versions
Beam AttacksZoning tools that gain range/speed when enhanced with Sun Symbols
TeleportCloses distance instantly after a beam, creating terrifying mix-ups
Sunshine StanceNeutral stance enabling simultaneous poke and ambush options
Critical ArtMulti-stage laser barrage followed by a radiant explosion

The character's design thesis is clear: bait the opponent into guarding projectiles at range, stockpile Sun Symbols, teleport through their guard, then detonate a full-meter combo. Against players unfamiliar with Ingrid's teleport timing, she will feel overwhelming. Her counterplay centers on denying the poke phase before she builds gauge.

Balance Changes — Throw System Overhaul

The balance focus for Update 1.30 is tightening the throw interaction loop that had grown increasingly skewed toward defenders in certain Burnout scenarios.

Universal Changes

ChangeBeforeAfterIntent
Drive Gauge on successful throw escape10,0005,000Reduce defender's burst recovery
Super Art gauge on successful throw escape1,0000Eliminate comeback mechanic overload
Recovery Drive Reversal success (Drive Gauge)Standard+10,000Reward high-commitment defensive reads
Opponent Super Art gain on Punish Counter throw2,8001,400Match normal-hit values for consistency

Design rationale from Capcom: Previous updates had increased both Drive and Super Art gauge gained from throw escapes, but this made normal throws feel risky for the attacker when the defender was in Burnout — a state where the attacker should be at a significant advantage. The revised values restore throw pressure as a meaningful offensive tool while rewarding Recovery Drive Reversal as a high-skill defensive option.

Bug Fixes

FixCharacters Affected

Community Reactions

"

"Ingrid's teleport timing after the beam is already terrifying in the lab. I have no idea how to deal with it yet. My wallet is already open for that matchup knowledge." — Reddit r/StreetFighter

"

"The throw escape gauge nerf was 100% needed. Getting your entire Drive bar back from one throw escape during Burnout was genuinely oppressive. This feels much more balanced." — Steam Community SF6 Hub

"

"Avatar Arcade giving access to legacy SF endings is an incredible touch. I've already unlocked the SF3 ending and it genuinely made me emotional. Great content drop." — X community reaction

Year 3 Roster — Complete

With Ingrid's arrival, the Year 3 Character Pass is now fully complete.

C. ViperSpring 2026SF4 returnee, electric/fire spy tools

Capcom has not yet announced Year 4. Community consensus is that the first Year 4 character reveal will happen at EVO 2026 in July, following the franchise's tradition of major announcements at the tournament.

💡TIP

Buying Ingrid: Individual purchase is available in the shop via Fighter Coins. If you already own the Year 3 Character Pass or Ultimate Pass, she's already unlocked. The Year 3 pass remains on sale and remains better value than buying the four characters individually.
