Out Now — The Ink-Washed Roguelite Has Finally Arrived
Leap Studio and publisher 4Divinity have officially launched Realm of Ink version 1.0 across all platforms. After nearly 20 months in Steam Early Access, the Chinese ink art action roguelite has made its full debut on PC (Steam & Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch simultaneously on May 26, 2026.
The timing is significant: Realm of Ink maintained a "Very Positive" rating throughout its entire Early Access period — 95% positive across 274 English reviews — a rare achievement for any game that spends that long in development feedback loops.

Story — Rewriting a Fate That Was Already Written
You play as Red, a relentless swordswoman pursuing a mysterious Fox Demon. During the chase, she discovers a devastating truth: her entire existence — every choice, every death, every victory — was already written inside a mystical storybook. She is a character inside a story, not its author.
The Ink Realm she inhabits is a living manuscript, shaped by traditional Chinese ink-wash painting aesthetics. Every death sends Red back to the Inn, where she gathers new strength, unlocks new combat forms, and relearns the world with fresh eyes. Her goal: shatter the cycle, rewrite the ending, and break free from the predetermined fate.
The world is populated by more than 20 mythical creatures drawn from Chinese folklore — Fox Demons, Peony Fairies, Mirror Sprites — each with distinct backstories and combat roles.
Core Systems — Build Depth That Rewards Experimentation
Realm of Ink's biggest strength is how many variables interact to create genuinely different runs.
Combat Forms, Ink Gems & Perks
| System | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Combat Forms | 9 distinct weapons/styles, each with its own identity and optimal builds |
| Ink Gems | 40+ elemental skills (Tiger, Venom, Curse, Burning, Kylin, Dragon Ink and more) |
| Perks | 200+ passive upgrades that chain together for build synergies |
| Story Relics | Evolving artifacts that change what's possible each run |
The Ink Pet System
Your companion Momo isn't decorative. Based on which Ink Gems you equip, Momo evolves into one of 15+ unique forms, each with distinct active abilities that complement your build. This creates a secondary layer of synergy-hunting that pushes runs in unexpected directions.
""The pet evolves based on what I'm building, and suddenly the whole run clicks into a completely different strategy. That's brilliant design." — Steam reviewer

Should You Play It?
Buy if: You love build-crafting roguelites, enjoy Chinese mythology/wuxia aesthetics, or burned through Hades and want something with similar production quality at a lower price. The BlazBlue crossover also makes this a no-brainer for fans of 91Act's work.
Wait if: You need Korean/Spanish/Italian localization — current language support covers English, Japanese, and Chinese (Simplified/Traditional). Also note this is a single-player-only experience with no co-op.
Realm of Ink is available now on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. A free demo remains available on Steam and Xbox.
