Clash Royale's Biggest Update in Years Is Live Today
Supercell has deployed the Q2 2026 update for Clash Royale today, May 26 — the largest progression rewrite the game has seen since the November 2025 Magic Coins overhaul. Nine systems change in a single patch, and the effects are immediate with no staggered rollout.
The headline change: XP and King's Journey are gone. In their place, a new Collection Level system makes every card upgrade count directly toward your progression number. The update also brings a reworked Seasonal Trophy Road, three new modes, two new headline cards, and a sweeping reward rebalance.

Collection Levels — The New Core Progression System
King's Journey and XP are out. Collection Level is in. The formula is straightforward:
"Collection Level = Sum of all card levels you own + 5 per Evolution owned + 5 per Hero form owned
Every single card upgrade adds exactly +1, regardless of rarity. This means every upgrade decision is now directly visible in your overall progression — no more wondering whether upgrading a Common card is "worth it" for XP purposes.

When you log in for the first time after the update, your Collection Level is automatically calculated from your current card collection. You'll receive celebration rewards based on where you land — log in today to claim them.
Seasonal Trophy Road Returns — With a Twist
The Seasonal Trophy Road (STR) is back, redesigned and harder than before.
How It Works
- ▶Reach 14,000 Trophies on the main Trophy Road to unlock STR
- ▶Seasonal Arena 1: 500-trophy climb with your full deck, no restrictions
- ▶Seasonal Arena 2: The 8 cards you won with most in Arena 1 are auto-banned — you must build a fresh deck without them
Arena 2 equalizes all cards to Level 15, making it a pure deck-building and skill contest. STR resets each season, giving you a recurring target for the badge reward.

New Cards: Hero Tombstone and Princess Evolution
Hero Tombstone
A Hero variant of the classic Tombstone building. At 6 Elixir, the Regal Revival ability sacrifices the building to summon the Tomb Queen — a tower-targeting hero who continuously spawns Skeletons and leaves more behind when defeated. Build-around potential is high for control and skeleton-swarm archetypes.
Princess Evolution
The icy Princess fires Frozen Arrows on her first attack and every third attack thereafter. Each frozen arrow slows and damages nearby enemies. On death, she drops an ice zone that continues to slow and damage enemy troops that enter it.
The Princess Evolution is available directly from the premium Pass Royale track.
New Mode: Princess Gambit
Princess Gambit is the update's most unique addition — a mode that removes deck-building entirely.

At the start of each match, the game displays which cards will appear as Evolutions or Heroes so you know what to watch for. If you don't own a card in the pool, it appears at its minimum playable level.
Victory Run Event
A lives-based win-streak event running alongside the STR.
- ▶Win → advance on the track, earn rewards
- ▶Reach a checkpoint → lives refill, you can't fall below that point
- ▶Lose a match → lose a life
- ▶Lose all lives → game over for the run
Each checkpoint offers a reward, and rewards scale up the further you climb before exhausting your lives.
Mastery Rework — Gold-Only Rewards, Easier Tasks
Gems and Wildcards are leaving the Mastery system entirely, migrating to Collection Level milestones. Mastery rewards become gold-only, but task requirements drop significantly across the board.

Requirements are cut approximately 60% across most cards. The Hog Rider damage task drops from 420,000 to 170,000 as a representative example. Tasks already completed beyond the new threshold are automatically marked done on login.
While Mastery no longer gives Wildcards or Gems directly, those resources are now more abundant through Collection Level milestones — and Wild Card totals increase dramatically (Common Wildcards up 478%).
